COMMUNITY ARTS TEAM

The Community Arts Team was comprised of several school districts: Shell Lake, Weyerhaeuser, Ladysmith, Bloomer and Winter. Each school received MIRA money to bring an artist to the school for various presentations and workshops.

The Team focused on mainly sixth and seventh graders doing projects such as making clothespin people for circular quilts and large tissue paper collages.

Partnerships

There were no leveraged funds. Several of the art teachers had this idea before MIRA funds became available. MIRA was the catalyst. There were no community contributions, however the school districts did collaborate in providing time and space for the activities to take place.

Leadership

Distance between towns was the largest obstacle for this MIRA team. The team benefited from its flexible leadership and strong structure. These qualities helped the team complete its project. There are no plans for continuation.
