ARTS AND CULTURE TEAM
According to an Arts & Culture team member, Libby Williams, their project is complete, with these objectives accomplished:
- To honor Oil City schools for their extra-curricular offerings in the arts.
- To identify and recognize Oil City graduates for their professional achievements in the arts.
- To publish and distribute an Artist Directory identifying these graduates.
- To hold a celebratory public concert featuring a graduate with outstanding professional accomplishments.
- To arrange workshops in the schools conducted by the graduates.
- To create a web site to identify graduates, www.ocartscouncil.com.
There are currently no plans to continue the project and the MIRA team no longer meets.
Partnerships
The Oil City Arts Council was the fiscal agent and driving force behind this team. Other collaborations include the Internet provider, csonline, which maintains the artist directory on the Internet at their own cost, the Edinboro Ph.D. student who designed the team's web page free of charge and the local schools that provided graduate information.
There were no leveraged funds as the MIRA grant paid for the concert, directory publication costs and stipends for visiting local graduates.
Leadership
The Steering Committee made the decisions on who to invite as visiting local graduates and who to highlight in the celebratory concert. These decisions were then relayed to team members by one person who made assignments and collected progress reports from team members. This style ensured that the Pennsylvania MIRA projects were completed.
