STRENGTHENING THE FAMILY
Strengthening the Family MIRA team revitalized the Venango Fatherhood Initiative. Focusing on building stronger and healthier families, this team sends out the message that "Fathers make a difference."
The team started its mission with a series of workshops and the development of training videos to enhance fathering skills. Today, the team continues to provide programs that encourage fathers to become role models.
Partnerships
With financial support from the Venango Area Community Foundation, the initiative now provides a twelve-week workshop that covers topics such as leadership, values, character and relationships. This workshop is open to single fathers, grandfathers, new or expectant fathers and fathers who just want to work on their parenting skills.
The Initiative added the Doctor Dad program in 2001. This program is designed to increase a father's parenting skills in the area of infant and toddler health.
