ECOTOUR

Utilizing digital movie making, the Forest County Ecotour team produced a movie capturing the history and culture of their community. This movie has been shown to various local organizations such as the Lions Club and Meadville Area Civic Center.

As of June 2002, the MIRA team still meets and has shown its original movie over 20 times at various functions. The team created a new movie for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to use during the Pioneer Days Festival in August 2000. Also, a number of orders for community digital storytelling movies have been placed by commercial agencies including Pennsylvania State University's Conservation Leadership School.

Partnerships

Team members collaborated with the Forest County government and area school districts. The recruitment strategy to keep students interested in the program as the original members graduate or lose interest targets eighth to tenth graders and uses digital story telling technology in school projects.
