TRIMBLE

Trimble's goal was to use the MIRA funds to encourage all residents to take an active role in community improvement. The team members planned to accomplish this by purchasing a lighted community bulletin board displaying community information, having a computer resource room, building a Trimble web page, purchasing a fax machine, obtaining voice mail for everyone in the community, and buying a copier and digital camera for everyone to use.

Leadership

This team has allowed internal conflicts to block progress of the MIRA activities. There is a bulletin board located at town hall that is controlled by the mayor and city council. The computer resource room has been shut down because children were accessing porn sites on the Internet. According to Mary Lautzenheiser, a Trimble MIRA team member, local people have an interest in building a Trimble web page and re-opening the community resource center. Talks between the mayor, who does not want the city hall to be invaded by teenagers, and the Trimble Improvement Town Council are continuing. These talks may result in the re-opening of the computer resource center.
