CINDY MAY

Mora is a small Spanish community at some distance from Taos. Cindy May works for the county in a program for people arrested for drunk driving. She is used to helping people work together and run group meetings. Dawn Redpath praised May for the work she did in getting the others to training each time. May was going through a family crisis, but that did not prevent her from being the most responsible one on the team, which included old folks, teenagers, and middle-aged adults. Cindy said that many people did not go out of Mora, and training was valuable in giving them more contact with groups elsewhere in the county as well as the new technology. People have access to computers at the library and a program called Helping Hands. Once they complete the training and received the grant, Mora's team concentrated on helping a credit union, which had been using outdated equipment.
