TAOS RED WILLOW

Taos Red Willow planned to produce a documentary of pueblo life and culture through the eyes of community elders.

Partnerships

This program has quickly expanded. They have received extra funding from the Red Willow Resource Center. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation recently donated 20 new computers and a lab trainer for the new computer resource lab.

The "Building with Books International" program selected the Taos Pueblo to be their first U.S. site. A sustainable structure using traditional building methods will start with a June 2002 groundbreaking ceremony. This new building will contain the new computer lab.

The original MIRA proposal to produce a documentary has evolved into an opportunity to digitize their native language to use as a curriculum tool in the BIA and Taos High School.
