BANK OF MEMORIES
Before leaving Orient I stopped by the Bank of Memories museum. A retired farmer was taking care of the exhibit, and he invited me in to sign the guest register and answer any questions. The small room contained old household items, news clippings, a scrapbook, and old photographs. The railroad had stopped running a few years before, and it seemed that services were drying up year by year. Yet the impressive Internet lab and video conferencing center may be some kind of replacement for the physical links that people in this remote farming village used to enjoy.
