In October 2000, a celebration was held to explain the project to applicants, give an update on technical installations and encourage community participation.
Now, the MIRA team is no longer meeting. Sprint at first agreed to help with the project but backed out citing lack of fiber optics, bandwidth issues and issues of profitability.
Brad Huffacker, who was not part of the original MIRA group, works on the Centauri High School web page project on the weekends from his home. Although no web page has been created, some team members thought of approaching the journalism classes at the North Conejos County High School to collaborate on the web page project. However, this proposal for collaboration has yet not been done.
Once the two main leaders left, the team fell apart. Perhaps having a goal that every team member agreed upon would have increased accountability among the team members and the team goal would have been achieved once the main leaders left.
Ken Swinehart of the local ISP provided the equipment, labor and technical assistance needed to put a translator on a nearby mountain.
